Services: The Public Works Department is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and operation of all water and wastewater lines, towers, stations, plants and services for customers within and outside the city limits of Denham Springs.

The City recently went online with a new state-of-the-art, wastewater treatment facility which garnered the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s Environmental Leadership Municipality Recognition Award in Pollution Prevention. The sewage treatment plant includes nutrient removal of nitrogen and phosphorus, tertiary treatment with sand filters, odor control and exceptional quality sludge processes. The flow treatment increased from two million gallons to four million gallons per day with a peak of six million gallons. Increased flow design allows for additional capacity from future developments. A portion of the final discharge is used for irrigation purposes at Greystone Golf Course. The new sewage treatment facility will decrease the total contaminant discharge by approximately one ton per day, eventually removing an additional 2.3 tons per day of contaminants. The City has created the Denham Springs Sewerage District #1, which expands City wastewater services far beyond the city limits, opening up more area for residential and commercial development.
